Welcome to 7th grade Language Arts and Reading! This year we will learn reading strategies and purposes for reading and vocabulary skills.
Accelerated Reader:
Each student will be required to earn 25 accelerated reading points each semester. Students can earn these points by reading a book and taking the corresponding computerized test. Each book is assigned a point value by length and level of difficulty.
Textbooks:
Students will be issued a textbook during the first day of school.
Classroom Expectations:
1. Be prepared for class with all materials.
2. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
3. Be a courteous listener.
4. Be a respectful citizen.
Grading Scale:
• 100-94% A
• 93-87% B
• 86-78% C
• 77-70% D
• 69 and below F
Late Work:
Students that miss the deadline for the assignment and do not fall under the absentee work makeup policy shall be deducted 10% from the score that they attain. Once the test for that material’s unit has been given, NO late work shall be accepted, and the student will be given a “zero” for any missing work within that unit.
